Megan John
SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Megan was an active kid, rock climbing with her family, dancing ballet from nursery and playing Netball since 7 years old. She practiced Taekwondo competitively as a teenager until chronic hip and knee injuries took her off the competition stage. It was her own journey and struggles with physiotherapy that led her to pursue this career, and her firsthand experience with rehab enables her to effectively understand and guide others through the sometimes daunting process.
Megan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Perth, where she was lucky enough to work with the local adults and children’s rugby leagues, as well as volunteering her time to work with children with various developmental difficulties.
Having started out her physiotherapy career in paediatrics (first at Rainbow Centre then at KKH) while covering sports on the weekends, combined with having coached junior league netball for over 10 years and having danced ballet for most of her life, Megan loves working with both children and adults at all levels of their sporting journeys – be it their first forays into a new sport or Olympic medal winning athletes.
Megan’s secret passion is learning languages, and she is proficient in Mandarin, Japanese, French while being comfortably conversational in Korean and Singapore Sign language. While initially having been driven solely by passion, her multilingualism has helped her work with both clients and athletes from all around the world.
Currently, Megan works actively in the National and Asia Rugby leagues and travels the world as the tournament physiotherapist with World Table Tennis. She also loves covering ad-hoc sporting events such as ultimate frisbee and gymnastics whenever extra hands are required. She is happy to bask in the energy on the fields and courts.
Megan is proficient in various therapeutic techniques, including the Schroth Method for scoliosis, Dry needling, Sports Taping, Dynamic Taping and Manual therapy. This ever-growing list of skills enhances her ability to effectively treat active individuals and athletes alike. Megan also keeps herself up to date with the latest literature and research to best personalise treatment for her clients. Her ultimate goal is for all of her clients to be able to practise their sports of choice without restraint.
In her free time, you can find Megan switching out to her netball coaching cap on Saturday mornings down at Centaurs Netball, hitting the dance studio or the climbing walls, or chasing after her dog at the beach.
